The Capital is Full of Hollywood blockbuster movies turned hit Musicals at London’s Box Office.

The West End is full of shows that manage to dazzle and delight crowds on a regular basis and each year more and more open their doors. But many of these stories have a life before arriving in the capital and this is thanks to Hollywood, whose stories have been adapted to the stage again and again.

There are currently various musicals that audiences may recognise from the big screen, from Billy Elliot the Musical to the recently-opened Ghost the Musical, and they regularly attract a large crowd. Alongside them are Shrek the Musical, The Lion King, Legally Blonde the Musical and Dirty Dancing. Even shows like Matilda the Musical, Chicago and The Phantom of the Opera have had big screen adaptations and it goes to show that they are timeless stories that still manage to have a huge effect on audiences.

This trend has no signs of slowing either, with a big screen version of Rock of Ages planned, and it is not just restricted to musicals as Driving Miss Daisy is currently running at the Wyndham’s Theatre. The show has always been a play, but it is best known for the movie adaptation starring Morgan Freeman.
