Luxury watch makers Omega have announced the release of a special edition Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond watch to commemorate 50 years of James Bond films and to coincide with the release of the next installment in cinemas in autumn 2012 (26th October 2012 for the UK, 9th November for the USA).

The Omega Seamaster line of watches has appeared in nearly every film since Golden Eye in 1995, starting when Peirce Brosnan took over the role, wearing the Omega Seamaster Quartz Professional.

The special edition timepiece will arrive in time for the 23rd installment of James Band films, “Skyfall”, which casts Daniel Craig in the role of the iconic 007. During his first role as James Bond he wore the Omega Planet Ocean during the first part and moved onto the Seamaster Professional 300M which the special edition is based upon.

The special edition watches are made of stainless steel incorporating a red number 50 on the ceramic bezel rings as a celebration of 50 years of Bond films and a successful partnership between Omega watches and the films. Aside from the red marking on the 50, the watch also includes a 007 monogram pattern on a lacquered black dial. It also boasts water resistance up to 300M aided by the release of a helium escape valve allowing gas out during compression.

The collector’s edition timepiece was released at Omega’s boutique store in Stratford Westfield mall in London by Omega president Stephen Urquhart. Also attending the event was Lindy Hemming, the Oscar winning costume designer who originally chose the Omega Seamaster in Golden Eye.

The watch will be released in limited runs in two sizes, 11007 pieces of the 41mm version and 3007 of the smaller 36.25 design.

In today’s fast-tracked world finding a spare moment to spend time together as a family can be a rare occasion, with everyone leading busy lives it is undoubtedly a treasured moment when the whole family comes together. Catching up with close friends and family, although enjoyable, can often be a stressful situation. Maintaining harmony between family members in a close proximity is a particularly delicate task, keeping everyone happy is difficult to say the least.

Sharing experiences brings people together, enjoying a film as a family can create a sense of unity; whilst at the same time keeping them quiet. A family movie night is often just what is needed to restore harmony and promote family togetherness; however deciding which film to watch can generate disputes. Plan the night strategically, compromising between younger and older family members is key to a successful evening, or if you are feeling generous treating the whole family to a trip to the cinema allows each individual to enjoy a movie of their choice, without the drama.

Films are powerful, they evoke emotions and create a sense of escapism. From comedies to thrillers films are an exciting concept which the whole family can enjoy. When the holidays come around and you are struggling for ideas of things to do a family film can be ideal for keeping the kids happy. Daily activities are important; there are plenty of attractions up and down the country to keep your little ones happy, from a Play centre in Rochdale to Bowling alleys in Plymouth you are bound to find an activity to keep them entertained.

Home Cinema: Which TV Is Right For Me?

With massively increased consumer choice and the wide variety of cheap TV available on the market today, it is becoming easier and easier to install your very own home cinema. This is great news for film buffs who find the expense of going to the pictures on a regular basis a little bit tough on the bank balance. But such a huge variety of choice can be pretty confusing for the customer.

Plasma

Plasma TVs are a massively popular due to their stunning picture quality. Because of their plasma technology, motion tracking is excellent, pictures are sharp and clear and they display great depths of colour. Screen size is also a massive plus point for someone wanting a serious home cinema as they tend to start at 42”. This is out of necessity though – anything smaller than this and its benefits wouldn’t stand out so much. Plasma TVs are also quite costly to run because they use up more electricity.

LCD (Liquid Crystal Display)

LCD TVs are also great in terms of picture depth and quality and unlike plasma screens, have no burn-in susceptibility. Although they don’t have quite the same degree of colour intensity, its anti-glare technology makes it perfect for viewing in bright conditions and is extremely durable. LCD is also a perfect option for people looking for the kind of picture you get with plasma technology on a smaller screen. With LCD there can be some issues with motion delay and noticeable motion blurs. As the television ages, you may also notice the backlight dimming.

3D

Relatively new to the market, three-dimensional television has been heralded by some as a viewing revolution. Some, however, are unconvinced. The main advantage 3D TV has over others on the market is that it offers much greater depth to landscapes and will convert any 2D signal into 3D when playing video games and watching films. At the moment however, they tend to be pretty expensive and will only be effective when displaying content shot in 3D. Accessories can be expensive too, and glasses can be pretty awkward to wear.

At the recent Academy Awards one big name that got a lot of face time was Rolex; featured on the wrist of many celebrities both nominees and winners, Rolex watches are still recognised world-wide as the brand of success and prestige.

This is not the first year that Rolex has made a significant appearance at the world’s biggest convention of industry movers and shakers. Last year at the 2010 academy awards Jeff Bridges won the Oscar for Best Actor and when asked if he brought any good luck charms, he responded that he was wearing his father’s gold Rolex. He wears a Rolex Submariner and he claims it brought him good luck; passed down through a generation of great actors and being such a historic piece it is the perfect adornment to the historic awards that are now in their 84th celebration.

Even the Submariner has accompanied some huge names to the awards before and it really does appear to be a good luck charm. It is a favourite model of award winning director James Cameron who uses it as a very practical tool for all of his deep sea diving trips. It was on his wrist when Titanic won him two awards for Best Director and Best Picture.

It seems like each award winner has their particular favourite model of Rolex watch. For example Best Actor Robert DeNiro wears a Rolex Daytona and it seems remarkable that we could purchase these very same models from local stores ourselves. It would be foolish to think that correlation equals cause, but it seems like a Rolex is something that a lot of Academy Award winners have in common, so purchasing one could be the start of a very successful acting career.

The West End is full of shows that manage to dazzle and delight crowds on a regular basis and each year more and more open their doors. But many of these stories have a life before arriving in the capital and this is thanks to Hollywood, whose stories have been adapted to the stage again and again.

There are currently various musicals that audiences may recognise from the big screen, from Billy Elliot the Musical to the recently-opened Ghost the Musical, and they regularly attract a large crowd. Alongside them are Shrek the Musical, The Lion King, Legally Blonde the Musical and Dirty Dancing. Even shows like Matilda the Musical, Chicago and The Phantom of the Opera have had big screen adaptations and it goes to show that they are timeless stories that still manage to have a huge effect on audiences.

This trend has no signs of slowing either, with a big screen version of Rock of Ages planned, and it is not just restricted to musicals as Driving Miss Daisy is currently running at the Wyndham’s Theatre. The show has always been a play, but it is best known for the movie adaptation starring Morgan Freeman.

Do Christmas movies grab your interest or leave you snoring? While some people love animated films like a Muppet Christmas Carol, not all will be going Ho Ho Ho in front of those puppets this Christmas. Some like it the other way round and prefer the live action of A Carol Christmas and A Carol for Another Christmas, not to mention those that enjoy The Christmas Do-Over.

Some Christmas movies may leave you bored or snoring, maybe even needing laser snoring treatment if it’s that bad! Whereas exciting movies are less of The Christmas Secret and others just fall within The Christmas Wish range. Nevertheless, from Christmas Classics, and Picking Up & Dropping Off in-between, there’s now The Search for Santa Paws and Beethoven’s Christmas Adventure, not to mention Christmas with a Capital C!

So you see, there’s an extensive selection of Christmas movies to choose from depending on your digital channels, TV tuning and Internet access. Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas! And if you’re staying Home for Christmas and hear snoring during your favourite Christmas movie, it’s Unlikely [an] Angel, and more of Like Father, Like Santa. Your snoring Santa could be coming from the room or the home next door. Bear in mind there are many ways to save this Christmas than just The Night They Saved Christmas. Here are some stop snoring tips for your snoring Santa Claus:

All That Heaven Allows- Somnoplasty

All I Want For Christmas- nasal strips

Naughty and Nice -essential oils

All Mine to Give- mouth guard

and if you must… Surviving Christmas Surgery

Not having treatment for snoring at Private Clinic Harley Street poses risks to health, the well-being of others and relationship, which could leave you all alone with nothing but Toy Tinkers for company. Get your snoring fixed before Frosty Returns. Think beyond a Black Christmas and Beyond Tomorrow… think Christmas Comes But Once a Year, because snoring is more than just A Christmas Tale.

Cinema is possibly one of the most powerful entertainment industries in the world, with the box office from movies such as Titanic and The Pirates Of The Caribbean reaching billions of dollars worldwide. During the summer blockbuster season movies regularly reach hundreds of millions of dollars in box office tallies and this leads to new movies with innovative new special effects that develop and evolve continuously. The industry is so influential that we can see the effects in modern culture as brands like Star Wars become household names

The next advancement in cinema is 3D films. More and more films are being released in 3D formats so that audiences can totally immerse themselves in the experience. Movies such as Beowulf, Journey To The Centre Of The Earth and the upcoming James Cameron movie Avatar all employ such technology. Such is the hype for the upcoming Avatar, many cinemas are being upgraded to cope with the technology.

With cinema currently going through somewhat of a revolution it seems its popularity will continue to flourish, with films likely to continue to break the billion dollar mark in the future.
